Gilbert lists 43 pool companies in this directory, and 24 of them take on remodel, resurfacing or replastering work. Nine of those 24 do not build new pools at all. Renovating existing ones is the entire business. The other 15 build new and renovate. Nine remodel-only firms is a deep bench of specialists for one city, and it gives you a real choice that smaller lists do not.
That split is the first thing to sort out before you start calling. A remodel-only crew works on existing shells every day of the week, and the person who quotes your job is often the person running the chip-out. A builder who also remodels may treat renovation as fill-in work between new construction starts. That can bring you a stronger design hand and a larger crew, or it can mean your job moves when a build contract comes in. Neither model is better on its face. You just want to know which one is on the other end of the phone before you ask about scheduling.
Eighteen of Gilbert's 24 remodelers appear on the Registrar of Contractors posting list dated 2026-10-02. Only 12 say anything about a license in their own listing, so self-reporting undersells this group by six companies. Among the matched licenses, KA-5 is the most common with seven holders. Three hold R-6, two hold CR-6, two hold B-5, two are posted simply as B, and one holds B-4. Nine of them hold a construction class and five hold a service and repair class.
Those five service-class holders are worth a second look rather than a pass. Building a pool in Arizona requires a ROC license, and the build classes are B-5, B-6, A-9, A-19, KA-5 and KA-6. CR-6, R-6 and C-6 cover service and repair, which is what a resurfacing job actually is. You already own the structure. A CR-6 or R-6 holder quoting your replaster is properly licensed for that work, and screening those bids out would cut five legitimate options from your list for no reason. The build class only becomes the question if your scope adds new structure, such as a spa or a new bench.
Remodels here rarely stop at the interior surface. Fifteen of the 24 also do outdoor living and landscape work, 14 list decking and pavers, and 14 list water and fire features. Twelve handle spas and hot tubs, and 13 offer financing. If your renovation involves tearing out cracked decking or adding a spillway, most of this list can keep it under one contract. Two things are thinner than you would guess from those numbers: only three list pebble interior finishes and only three list Baja shelves or tanning ledges. Ask about either one directly instead of assuming it is standard.
By review volume the busiest names are Blue Lemon Pools with 512 reviews, Above & Beyond Pool Remodeling with 392, and Gilbert Pool Repairs- Remodels & Weekly Service with 193. Blue Lemon is one of the remodel-only firms and carries no ROC number in our data. That is not a verdict on the company, it is a prompt to look it up yourself. The ROC contractor search is free at azroc.my.site.com/AZRoc/s/contractor-search and confirming a number and class takes about a minute.
Nine of the 24 remodelers in Gilbert do not build new pools. They work exclusively on existing ones. The other 15 do both. Gilbert's 24 remodelers come out of 43 pool companies listed in the city overall.
No. CR-6, R-6 and C-6 are service and repair classes, and resurfacing or replastering a pool you already own is repair work. Five of Gilbert's licensed remodelers hold a service class and are properly licensed for that job. The construction classes, B-5, B-6, A-9, A-19, KA-5 and KA-6, matter when your scope adds new structure.
Usually. Fourteen of the 24 remodelers list decking and pavers, 15 list outdoor living and landscape work, and 14 list water and fire features. Pebble interior finishes are the exception at only three companies, so raise that one early if it matters to you.
